Salty’s, Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire

As we strolled in the midday sun from the bus station, Salty’s was the first chip shop we spotted. It seemed a good idea to stop here and order lunch. We weren’t disappointed.

It had to be haddock, chips and mushy peas. We sat on one of the picnic tables outside until my order number was called for collection.

It looked good. The batter was crispy and light, not to mention delicious. The haddock inside was succulent and white with that seaside fresh flavour. I ate the lot, skin and all.

The chips were good but didn’t quite have the wow factor. The mushy peas did, though. They were fabulous. Un-dyed and enhanced with a generous splash of vinegar.
