Angelo’s Chippery, New Parks, Leicester

Today’s journey was one of the more unusual ones, passing through a copse. It was a very peaceful afternoon. Even the picnic location was secluded with very few folk passing by.

This chip shop used to be called Fryer Sid’s. We never made it to Sid’s. There were a few clues as to the previous name.

The service here was chummy. The fellow behind the fryer asked if I wanted the fish, chips and mushy peas on a tray so it became the £4.50 special. Salt and vinegar was added before the peas and fish, then it was wrapped and bagged.

It was all rather decent. The batter was a bit thick but the cod inside had firm white flakes. The chips appeared to be new potatoes, and were soft and tasty. The peas had a nice texture. The meal didn’t blow my socks off but it was OK.
