Richard’s Fish Bar, Northampton

This chip shop came as a surprise. This Chip Fiend was not aware of it until they happened to walk past it one Saturday lunchtime. There was a kind of 1980s look about the signage or place. That drew me in. Plus the fact that I was looking for something to eat.

The fish was cooked to order, always a bonus. When it was served it had a delightful light and crisp batter. The fish was fresh and light also.

The chips were pale and tasty with an almost “cooked at home” look about them. Very nice.

The staff were apologetic as they had run out of big forks and could only supply a tiny fork that would be appropriate for eating shrimps. Not to worry, this Chip Fiend was armed with their own wooden fork to demolish the meal.
