Wigston Fish Bar, Wigston

It was the first time this Chip Fiend had ever walked into a chip shop to be met by complete silence by staff. No warm welcome here. Let’s hope the chips were more than tepid. The only words spoken by the staff were “salt and vinegar?” and the price.

I wandered along the street to find a bench.
There was a fish underneath some rather jade green mushy peas that had been ladled all over. There were also some rather wizened and dry chips.

The fish inside the batter was rather nice after some digging to remove the slop on top.  Most of the meal was discarded in the nearest bin, followed by copious amounts of hot tea to help dissolve the stodge and heartburn.
