Brookside Fish Bar, Burbage

This Chip Fiend popped in here one Thursday evening, not long after opening time. I eyed up the potato fritters in the display. They looked deliciously thick cut with a good batter. Mini cod and chips had already been ordered so the fritters stayed in the display.

There were some fish already cooked. The mini cod was a good size for mini and the meal came to £4.50.

The staff serving added salt and vinegar before the fish then extra salt and vinegar on top of the fish. Very impressive.

I found a spot nearby under some hanging baskets of flowers; petals gently falling around me.

The chips were cut thick. The portion was huge; enough for two people. Maybe that’s why they gave me two forks. They were a tad greasy though, so became a bit sickly after eating a few.

The cod was very nice. The batter was OK and had a good flavour to it. I ended up eating all of the fish and batter but couldn’t finish the huge portion of chips.
