A Salt N Battered Fish & Chips, Sheffield

For saying how many chip shops we have visited over the past few years, the Chip Fiends have come across surprisingly few with gimmicky names. There is possibly no chip shop with a more amusing moniker than A Salt N Battered. This small chip shop on London Road, Sheffield, however, could sell its food purely by good reputation.

The Chip Fiends visited one lunch time and had specials costing as little as £3.20! For this bargain price you can purchase fish, chips, sauce (peas, curry or beans) plus an extra such as a fish rissole or sausage! How incredibly generous.

We went for fish, chips, peas and rissole, and fish, chips, curry and rissole. We noticed some local Henderson's Relish on the counter, plus a small tub of American spice, and tried a bit of both on our chips. We stood for shelter beside a shop across the road as there were no benches nearby.

The food was excellent. A delicious mini fish of sensible size, thick, unctuous curry sauce, and smooth mushy peas. The rissole was a standard fish cake in golden breadcrumbs - but as a bonus, who is going to scoff at that?

This is yet another great chippy to add to our ever-increasing list of fantastic chip shops in Sheffield!
