Uni-Chip, Stoke-on-Trent

We spotted the large sign shaped like a fish from a bus window on a previous visit to Stoke.

Here we are again to try the food. The shop was very busy this Friday lunchtime. Customers were ordering a variety of items; small steak and kidney puddings, sausage and chips and fish and chips.

We went for the small cod and chips special with mushy peas for £3.40.

The fish was in the display and the chips were straight out of the fryer.
There seemed to be a lot of food for the £3.40 price. A bargain we thought.

We sat on the wall of the adjacent Staffordshire University to munch on the grub.

The chips were very good. Medium thick and very crisp on the outside. The peas were also good, poured onto the chips. The fish seemed quite big for a small one but we realised it was quite minuscule after the thick spongy batter was removed. The cod inside this thick coffin of yellow sponge was very nice indeed. Shame about the batter.
