Victoria Street Fish Bar, Derby

This is a sizeable fish and chip restaurant and takeaway in Derby city centre, with lots of cafe style tables for eating in.

The Chip Fiends made two visits on this day, as we arrived in Derby at different times.

In the first visit, cod and chips was ordered, "open". The cod was cooked to order, so it seemed promising.
When it was served in a box I was asked if I wanted the chips served separately. Something I've never been asked before. Two boxes for one meal?

Sitting outside and opening the box it was apparent that some of these chips were a bit old. It seemed that they may have been reheated as they were wizened and brown. The fish wasn't too bad but there was a lot of water in it, that rather spoilt the meal. Bit of a shame.

On the second visit by another Chip Fiend, some fresh chips had been cooked. Mushy peas were also ordered.
The delicious mushy peas dolloped onto the chips soaked into the nooks and crannies making a tasty mass of pea and potato.
