Fishy Business, Uttoxeter

There are several good chip shops all within a short walk of each other in Uttoxeter. On this occasion the Chip Fiends had lunch at Fishy Business.

We were going to have our meal 'open' - it was quite a sunny day - but were surprised to find that we could eat indoors, on a plate, at no extra charge. How civilised!

The fish was fried to order and the kind gentleman behind the counter brought our food to the table. For £7 each we had a very fine piece of battered cod with chips and mushy peas.

The fish was very fresh, in pure white flakes with a nice bite. The batter was so delicately thin and crispy. We were very impressed to say the least.

The mushy peas were creamy and delicious. We usually like to find some whole peas swimming in the sauce. These had reduced to pulp, but they tasted so good, we didn't mind at all.

The chips were good too. The portion was generous and so it was difficult to leave a clean plate.

Fishy Business have an extensive menu. They serve jumbo fish fingers, mushy pea fritters, battered mars bars, spam fritters, chip cobs, and a 'small fish special' which consists of a fish and a sausage with chips and sauce of choice.

We enjoyed our visit to Uttoxeter and concluded that there is nothing fishy about this business!!
