Stottie cakes are flat round loaves of bread enjoyed in the North East. You may of heard of our friends in the North enjoying them filled with ham and pease pudding. In conversation a few years ago, one of the Chip Fiends was told by someone from Newcastle upon Tyne they are great for chip butties.
Our Stottie was cut into quarters and spread with butter. Yes, butter, not margarine, and stuffed with a generous portion of chips. The bread was soft and light, perfect for a chip butty.
Brilliant I love a good chip butty. Stotties look great our equivalent are bread cakes, not quite as far North I am West Yorkshire. Keep up the great work. - Barry.
