Clayton Street Chippy, Newcastle upon Tyne

This chippy in the Toon, is a stones throw away from Central Station and several pubs and bars. Perfect for soaking up the beer before heading home.

As well as the usual fish and chips and kebabs, you'll find Chicken Parmo on the menu. Parmo, or Parmesan is the North East delicacy of chicken in breadcrumbs topped with a cheesy sauce and melted cheese. It looks amazing.

This Chip Fiend had a large haddock and chips. The shop was busy so the chips were being freshly cooked, the fish also was cooked to order.

The food was scooped into a box and we found a spot to have a bench picnic.

The fish (skin on) was excellent; a thin crispy batter on fresh, white, flaky meat.
The chips were medium thick and crispy. There was rather a lot of food in this serving but almost all of it was scoffed up as it was so tasty and not stodgy.
