Chip Shop Etiquette

We hope you all behave yourselves in the Chippy. We've seen and heard of a few behaviours that may seem slightly odd, out of place, or plain rude.

A friend of the Chip Fiends told us how once she was queuing to buy her supper when another customer (who preferred to stand outside the shop and smoke cigarettes) called her over, stuffed a £10 note in her hand and told her to get their order too.

Is it acceptable to lean over the counter and start shovelling chips into your mouth as the staff in the shop are wrapping your food? We've witnessed this.

There was the time we saw a customer buying the family meal also request a small battered sausage to secretly eat in the shop whilst the spouse and child waited in a car outside. The sausage was squirted with vinegar and hurriedly gobbled whilst the customer stood with their back to the door.

Behave yourselves in the chip shop; we might be watching.
