Cooking Mushy Peas at home

We're not fans of tinned mushy peas. Never have been. They seem to have a weird plastic taste to them. Let's be frank here, they're disgusting. If you're eating mushy peas at home then just buy dried peas and soak them. The results are much more rewarding.

We usually go for one of those boxes of Batchelor's Bigga that include a couple of soaking tablets. We're not going to repeat the instructions as you'll find them on the box. We'll just say you can soak and cook the whole box with two tablets or half the box with one tablet.

It takes about ten minutes of cooking to reach the desired result of mush and they taste good and proper! Even more delicious with a dash of mint sauce.

  1. Help please. I have just thrown in 2 boxes of bigga peas into a big pot of soup not realising there was soaking tablets. Will I still be able to eat the soup or will I have to bin it??
