The i4 Chippy Crawl

To mark national chip day (5th June) we thought we would treat you to a virtual chip crawl.

The Chip Fiends had heard on the grapevine about the many fantastic fish and chip shops on the road between Derby and Nottingham and decided to investigate by catching a Trent Barton bus i4. If you have a Barton's Mango top-up card you can hop on and off the i4 at any stop along the route. Alternatively you can buy a Zig Zag ticket for £6 with which you can ride unlimited all day.

There are a fair few chip shops along the i4 route, and all of them are within a few paces of the bus stops. The shops we called in at on the route starting from Derby are:

Fish @ Tony's, just outside Derby city centre.

The Sandiacre Fish Bar, at Sandiacre no less.

Andy's Fish Bar at Stapleford.

The Priory Fish Bar near Beeston on the outskirts of Nottingham.

Also on the route will be a Zan Fish chip shop at Spondon but at the time of writing this chippy was unfortunately not open yet - it's the shop that used to be Carlo's Catch.

There are separate reviews for Tony's, Sandiacre, Andy's and The Priory, which we are posting after this article. The reviews should not be interpreted as a competition between the shops. We simply wanted to bring these places to your attention - and for you to join in the fun of our i4 chippy crawl!
