Priory Fish Bar, Beeston, Nottingham

You can't miss Priory Fish Bar as you travel into Nottingham on the A52, especially at night with its large green illuminated sign.

Travelling on the i4 we alighted at a bus stop directly in front of Priory. The small car park for the row of shops where the chippy stands was busy; an indication of how popular it is.

The menu has the usual fare; traditional fish and chips alongside burgers, SF chicken and kebabs. Something here, not usually seen on chip shop menus was paninis.

The chip fiends were tempted by the home made fish cake but then decided upon fish and chips. One had haddock and chips, the other mini fish and chips with mushy peas.

The haddock and chips had just come out of the fryer and were piping hot. The chips were medium thick and very tasty.
The batter was a light gold and mostly very crispy, there was a little sogginess under the batter, the fish portion had the skin on.

As is sometimes the case, the batter seemed quite thick on the mini fish (unusually served with the chips on top today) portion and was better suited to a large fillet of fish. The peas were full of flavour and very enjoyable.

The service here is very good too; with extra paper provided to carry the tray on and a large paper napkin and smiles.

  1. Cold , bland & greasy tonight - won’t be using them again . Meal only took 8 mins from the message saying it was complete to the arrival on my doorstep so not down to the delivery driver .
