Hot Chip, Norwich

Hot Chip in Norwich doesn't describe itself as a chip shop but a "Chip Saloon". The Chip Fiends had even heard it described as a "Hipster" chip shop, whatever that means. Anyway, we went to check it out.

The small cafe style shop was busy with customers eating in and buying takeaways.

You order your chips (Lord Chips are thick cut, Lady Chips are thin cut) then can request the addition of a dusting of spices or salt and vinegar, then a topping or sauce. If you want more of a meal there is a menu of items like fish goujons, halloumi or chorizo. The chips are served in a box with a wooden fork.

This Chip Fiend ordered a box of Lord Chips, dusted with Arabesque spice mix and topped with Indian Dream sauce (that's mayonnaise with Indian spices to you).

The chips, fried in rapeseed oil, were very very good. Very crisp on the outside. The Arabesque spices complimented them exceptionally well. The sauce was very good too, but there was a lot of it, maybe I should have requested a little less. The portion was generous; a large serving was ideal for sharing with another Chip Fiend who also thought the chips were very good.
