Argus Fish Bar is very popular. Always hearing good reports about it. We went along to enjoy it too.

The shop was very busy on a Friday lunchtime; within about five minutes there was a queue of happy customers.
There is an extensive menu which includes cod, haddock, plaice, scotch eggs, faggots, mushy pea fritters, Clarks pies and Peters pies. There was also a notice stating panga fish was available with chips for £4.40.

Cod was top choice with the punters. This Chip Fiend also ordered cod. Cod and chips was £5.10. Large cod and chips £6.30. Each customer was served promptly as they entered the shop; with fish cooked to order.

The regular cod was generously portioned and cut thick. Firm cod with big flakes, cooked in a light, crisp batter.
The delicious chips were medium thick and golden in colour. Several scoops were placed in a box with the salt and vinegar added by one of the staff.
"Take care" was said to each customer who left the shop with a bag or box of hot tasty food.
We sat in nearby South Street Park and devoured our lunch.
