Grimsby Fisheries, Leicester

The Chip Fiends have never seen Grimsby Fisheries not busy. It's a huge shop with a very long counter, two counters in fact!
On an evening when it's full of hungry people you might at first be confused by this, then realise it helps serving customers a lot quicker. One of the fryers also specialises in gluten free.
They are famous for their huge portions. The mini fish here would be a regular size elsewhere. The regular size is so big you may struggle to finish it. Massive.
The batter here is thick. This divides opinions; one customer we know orders their fish without batter, another customer we know loves it.

Today this Chip Fiend had mini fish and chips. At £4.50 and looking at the serving, this was good VFM.
The chips are medium cut and were good. Very tasty. The (skinless) fish was rather spoiled by the thick batter, which on this occasion was very soggy inside and quite greasy. Most of the batter was left uneaten.

Grimsby Fisheries has a restaurant also, we'll return soon to try this.
