The Fish House, Ely

The Fish House, Ely is excellent.
If you want delicious, fresh food cooked to order - this is the place for you.

When this chip fiend paid a visit, a regular customer walked in and before she had asked for her food the assertive staff were preparing a portion of 'scampi with no chips, and some tartare sauce - in a box'.

It was a very busy Saturday lunchtime - the restaurant was full - and there were plenty of people waiting for takeaways of freshly fried fish. If you want to eat in at The Fish House all you need to do is order at the counter and say you'll eat indoors. An extra 20% will be added to the bill and your food will be plated and brought to your table by one of the staff - who wear pale green uniforms with 'The Fish House' embroidered on.




This fiend had a takeaway. My goodness, the food was worth the 6-minute wait! The haddock and chips were piping hot and delicious. The fish in particular was perfectly steamed inside a light, crisp batter with an unforgettable sweet fresh flavour.












The Fish House also serves pollack (unavailable on this visit), cod, plaice, and cod roe.
