In Ibstock, Leicestershire there used to be a chip shop.
An oral history anecdote informs us that 'thruppence' of chips could sustain a person on their walk home through the village after alighting from a bus at the top of Chapel Street at the end of a night out.
Some time in the late 1970s this chippy closed and a hair salon opened in its place, only for that to also close several years later.
When the Chip Fiends passed through Ibstock in 2014 the lost chippy of Ibstock was up for sale along with the house standing behind it...
I wonder if the new owners will be aware that they have a chip shop at the end of their drive?
