The Cod's Scallops, Wollaton, Nottingham

It was a damp autumn day and the Chip Fiends required sustenance in the form of a hearty takeaway.
They dropped the pin on the map of destiny and behold, The Cod's Scallops.

A great name for a chippy and the food is exceptional too.
The menu boasts a huge selection of different seafood including gurnard, lobster, swordfish and sea bass.

One Chip Fiend opted for their favourite haddock and chips, t'other decided on hake, chips and mushy peas. Both meals came with the option of scraps (batter bits).

The service was prompt and polite, a printed ticket with the order number was produced and the fish was cooked.
A short wait gave the Chip Fiends a chance to look around and decide they'd like to return and eat in at one of the cosy booths.

The generous portions were boxed and taken outside to be devoured.
The haddock had firm, large flakes encased in the most delightfully light and crispy batter. Very impressive and tasty.
The hake was sweet and also in excellent batter.
Chips were medium thick cut, crispy on the outside and floury on the inside. The peas were on the runny side of mushy; pale and very satisfying.

We shall definitely return to eat in.
