Mary Janes, Cromer

Anyone that has been to Cromer and eaten fish and chips will have heard of Mary Janes.

The famous take away and restaurant stands on Garden Street in the town centre and the enticing aroma of chips cooking will make you drool as you walk to the sea front.

The Chip Fiends visited on a very busy Saturday evening. Customers were queuing out of the door, but a very efficient service meant that none had to wait long.

Plenty of cod fillets were being cooked so that if that was your fish of choice you were served immediately. This Chip Fiend decided on Plaice so had a wait of around six minutes.

The menu includes Skate, Rock, battered burgers, vegi burgers and turkey burgers. Most of the customers were ordering cod and haddock.

The plaice was exquisite; fresh, sweet and melt in the mouth. The light batter was perfection.
The chips were pleasing but unfortunately this Chip Fiend had a few too many "shards" in the tray, chips that are from the edges of the potato.

The supper was enjoyed sat on a seat facing the North Sea.
