Humber Road Chippy stands on the corner of Humber Road and Middle Street in Beeston, Notts.
There are currently roadworks outside due to the new tram extension. If a stop is built outside then the chippy will do well. How could anyone resist a tram ride directly to this shop? On this Friday the shop had a busy lunchtime trade and the fish was cooked to order.
The Chip Fiend went for regular haddock and chips for £5.90.
Sitting outside in the damp air I was suddenly transported to the seaside. This is what a good portion of fish and chips should do: send a memory jolt from the taste buds.
The fish was sweet and the flakes were chunky. The batter looked thick but was surprisingly light and tempura in style. The chips tasted a bit like 'new potato' chips.
A return visit is promised to try the home made fishcake and intriguing fishcake surprise.
