Trawler's Catch, Loughborough, Leicestershire

Sometimes eating fish and chips outdoors on a crisp winter evening after a few beers is more welcome than sitting inside a fish restaurant eating off a plate. So was the case when this Chip Fiend ate at Trawler's Catch, Loughborough in November 2013. The experience was akin to eating fish and chips by the sea.

Trawler's Catch is an impressive shop - large, clean, and brightly lit. The staff wear branded uniforms and the food was cooked to order. There was quite a long queue - a good sign for a Sunday evening. The chips were fresh, golden and chunky, and the fish fell apart in big flakes. The batter was thin and crispy.

Overall this was a satisfying experience and a shop this Fiend would definitely return to.

The shop has bar stools by the window, should you want to shelter indoors and the A-board outside has an image of a fish wearing a chef's hat - in my humble opinion this shows a humorous attention to detail.
