The Ketchup Controversy

Does tomato ketchup go with chippy chips?
Mushy Peas yes.
Curry Sauce yes.
Gravy yes.

For this Chip Fiend ketchup on chippy chips doesn't work. Only the above named sauces. And that vinegary (brown) Sauce you get in Edinburgh.

Chippy chips require and deserve a heated sauce or something sharp and acidic, salt and a non-brewed condiment (that's a subject we'll touch on in another blog).

Ketchup is too sweet for chippy chips. OK for frozen oven chips when we're desperate.

Mayonnaise for fries.
Ketchup for oven chips.
Non-brewed condiment for chippy chips plus gravy, mushy peas or curry sauce.
