Moulin Rouge - Restaurant Meal

Moulin Rouge, Trinity Square, Nottingham.

Visited on 9/11/2013

As a special treat the four Chip Fiends decided to visit Moulin Rouge for a restaurant meal. This establishment has long been their chippy of choice when visiting Nottingham City Centre.

3 Fiends ordered fish, chips and peas, another Fiend went for chips and peas. The restaurant offers the fish and chip meal with inclusive drink (for example a cup of tea) and bread and butter. Sauces such as tartare and ketchup are also provided. (See separate blog post about whether ketchup goes with chip shop chips).

One of the Chip Fiends comments that "The chips were fresh. Nice and chunky with straight edges - a sign of their freshness"

Another Fiend approved of the mushy peas being served in a separate pot.

Food was served on traditional oval plates - handy for a fish meal. The chips and mushy peas meal, however, was served on a fancy rhomboid plate!

The restaurant is clean and bright, and there is a customer toilet with plenty of loo roll - "no danger of running out" as one Fiend exclaimed.

Unfortunately on this occasion the waitress omitted to bring the bread and butter. We passed over this because we were in rather a hurry any way.

Overall, the experience was good, but on reflection we prefer our fish and chips as a takeaway from Moulin Rouge and will review a takeaway meal elsewhere in the Chip Diaries.
