Cosby is a lovely little village in Leicestershire. A stream running through the middle emphasises the tranquility, you'd not guess the M1 motorway thunders past little more than half a mile away.
At the centre of the village is The Nook and a chip shop with a great reputation. We'd heard about this chippy many years before we visited, with tales of how customers queue outside the door on a Friday night.
The fish is cooked to order so please put your request in for cod, haddock or plaice upon arrival.
The chips are of medium thickness. The haddock was so fresh the flakes fell from the portion. Served with the skin on and encased in a crunchy (honeycomb looking) batter.
This fiend has a preference for a lighter batter, but even though it was thick this batter was in no way heavy or stodgy.
The service is friendly and efficient. We were impressed and will return soon.
